What self respecting food blogger would use FROZEN veggies… Me. Remember this is everyday cooking and in everyday cooking I don’t always have fresh veggies on hand and frozen fills in frequently. Now the question is how to “doll it up” to make it a non-boring side and make you want to eat your veggies. Well sour cream, garlic and bacon can do it for me.
A hard one to rate. Somewhat a 3 since I want to try fresh green beans. I will probably do it frequently since it just fits how we live with me being lucky to plan the main course and sides almost never come into planing. So I’m calling it a solid 4. Not a 5.
Notes: I have fresh green beans in the fridge to try this soon. I’m thinking a little paprika would be interesting.
Chop 1/2 medium onion and crush 1-2 cloves garlic.
Heat one tablespoon butter over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until transparent. Add the crushed garlic and cook one more minute.
Add 2 cups frozen green bean and 2 strips of bacon crumbled. Cook until the beans are hot. About 4-5 minutes. Heat to low. Add 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/4 t salt and 1/4 t pepper. Simmer for 2-3 more minutes.
