A surprisingly wonderful mayonnaise-based sauce that you need to try today. You will not believe how good they have it in Alabama.

White BBQ originated in north Alabama and was made famous by the historic barbecue joint Big Bob Gibson. Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q was founded in Decatur, AL in 1925 and continues to this day.
The sauce is great on grilled or smoked chicken or turkey. It can also be used on pork or as a dipping sauce. It is so tasty; you will find your own creative used for this wonderful sauce.
Generally, the sauce is used as a baste near the end of cooking usually chicken.
A really nice sauce especially for a change of pace.
The picture is from the next post-Alabama BBQ Chicken with White BBQ Sauce which is simply wonderful.
The recipe is from Cooks Country, but there are many slight variations out there. The main difference seems to be lemon juice added in most recipes. I didn’t do that and stayed with the CC ingredients but will try it next time and I added it as optional in the recipe.
Mix 3/4 cup mayo ( I used low fat, and it was great), 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice (optional see discussion), 2 teaspoons sugar, 1/2 teaspoon table salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, 1/2 teaspoon horseradish, and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper.
Refrigerate covered for 1 hour. May store for 2 days.
